[cisco-voip] Caller ID on MGCP FXS Port

Hello,

I've got a Gold Fax fax server set up to run off of 4 FXS ports on an
ICS. I have two small hunt groups set up to handle the inbound calls but
I'm having trouble passing the caller id information into the fax lines.

What I would like to do is this:
HP: 7060 -> hunt group that routes to FaxModem1 on server and passes a
predetermined number (it can really be anything) to the fax server.
HP: 7050 -> hunt group that routes to FaxModem2-4 on server and passes a
different predetermined number.

I have almost everything set up. I have both hunt groups set up and
working correctly. 7060 is ringing to the correct modem, and 7050 is
ringing to all three modems (longest idle) correctly. The only problem
is that I can't seem to pass any sort of caller id to the FXS ports.
I've hooked up a regular analog phone and it's not getting anything
either. The CCM is connected to the FXS ports with MGCP.

CCM: 4.0(1)sr2a
HW: ICS7750-MRP300 (MPC860P)
SW: 12.3(2)XA

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I don't remember the ICS supporting any sort of caller ID off of its
ports.

If you can get your hands on an ATA or other gateway, you could test
with those.

I'd also recommend getting of the ICS entirely (due to end of sale etc),
I've never had good luck getting that platform to do much of anything.

If that is the case, is there any way to do hunt groups off of H323? I
put in a TAC case the other day and they recommended I go MGCP. When I
tried to do it with H323 (that's the way it was initially) when I tried
to do a hunt group, it just went to busy because it couldn't find any of
the numbers in the hunt group.

Thanks

Hi Court,

Yes, it is possible to implement a hunt group in h323 configuration by
using multiple pots peers with the same destination pattern and varying
'preference'

dial-peer voice 1 pots
destination-pattern 20..
port 0/0
preference 0
prefix ,,,,
dial-peer voice 2 pots
destination-pattern 20..
port 0/1
preference 1
prefix ,,,,
(etc.)

Remember that on POTS dial-peers any digits not explicitly matched are
pulsed out of the port as DTMF. So in the above example, if the CM
sends an h323 call setup to the MRP with calledpartynumber=2045 the call
will route to port 0/0. The MRP will supply ring voltage down the line
and then 4 seconds later (4 commas) it will pulse out the digits 4 5.
All the normal h323 dial-peer configurations are still needed.

you should be able to also assign the voice-ports to a trunk group then point one dialpeer to the respective trunk group wrather than creating several dial-peers. I used that with FXOs and it worked great.

Thanks for the help. That did the trick. I didn't even think of that.
I was trying to do the hunting on the Call Manager instead of the
gateway.

Thanks
